Life Insurance Ratings & Comparison

Are you looking for life insurance? If you already have it, how financially strong is your insurance company? This is one of the most important things you need to be concerned with, because a financially weak life insurance company is disastrous. There are perhaps more than 3,000 life insurance companies out there, spanning several countries. Throughout our site, we aim to bring you the latest life insurance ratings and comparisons.

According to Standard & Poor's, they give life insurance ratings as follows:

AAA - This insurer will have strong financial stability and it's the best life insurance rating possible.

AA - An insurer who is very strong and only slightly weaker than an AAA rated life insurance company.

A - This insurer will have strong financial characteristics, but it's likely affected by more (like adverse conditions) than AA or AAA rated insurance companies.

BBB - This is really the last level for good financial ability. Everything under this level is very vulnerable. One rating to keep your eye out for is "R" which is an insurer under regulatory supervision.

Generally, a life insurance company is rated by it's financial ability to pay insurance policies and contracts under its terms. These are generalized ratings, but you generally want to look for a company that's rated AAA, AA, A or BBB for peace of mind. Remember, a life insurance company rated lower can still pay policies as well. Typically, it's not recommended to buy life insurance solely on an insurer's rating. For instance, if you have a better life insurance policy option with a AA rated company, you wouldn't forego that just to be insured with a AAA company.

As always, make sure the life insurance company you wish to do business with is licensed to operate in your area. We hope you enjoy our life insurance ratings & comparison site.
